A Camera for Everybody

My picture taking leaves a lot to be desired. No matter what gadget I have in my hand the result is always the same. Blurry faces, bodies cut in half or close ups of my finger. So I’m a bit reluctant to splash out on an expensive camera to try and help me improve. Fortunately, thanks to Pentax, I don’t have to.

The new Optio E70L is a very affordable £100 and with a decent combination of good components. It is capable of taking pictures at 10.1 megapixels with a 3x optical zoom. To view what I am taking a picture of there is a 2.4 inch TFT display. To help me create great photos, the camera comes with pre-set scene modes and the ability to recognise up to 10 people at the same time with its facial recognition technology. Add to that its smile detection and shake reduction feature I should become and able photographer in a matter of minutes.

Other features include 11MB onboard memory, although this can be expanded using the SD card slot and the ability to record videos with sound. It’s not too heavy either, sitting at 175g.

It looks like my holiday photos could see a marked improvement in the coming months and my kid’s sports day should be a breeze. I may have to hide it though to stop the missus using it to take photos of her flowers in the garden.
