Bring a Spark to Your Life

Our gadgets are becoming numerous. Manufacturers are bringing out more and more technologically advanced devices that make our head spin. If you are someone who likes to keep their phone separate from their music player, you are going to want to have as small a gadget as possible. The problem with this is the available crop of MP3 players come with basic features, which for us techno freaks is a sin. Philips is trying to remedy this with the GoGear Spark.

Measuring just 44mm square and a thickness of 13mm it is certainly counted as a small player, and it crams in a 38mm OLED display. As to its controls, there are buttons on its side for on/off, volume and options, but to scroll through the music lists or FM frequencies you squeeze the top or bottom edges and to skip songs or glide through the menu icons you squeeze the left or right edges.

The GoGear Spark supports MP3 and WMA formats and while these are being played the albums artwork, which the song is from, is displayed as a background image. JPEG images are displayed in the photo viewer, which can also be set as a slideshow and an integrated FM radio comes with 20 memory slots for setting your favourite radio stations.

There are two flavours of this gadget, a 2GB and 4GB and the stated battery life is 27 hours, which is very good for such a device.
