Toshiba have now released their SpursEngine SE1000 processor for sampling. The processor, based on the PS3’s Cell technology, contains 4 cores as opposed to the Cell’s 8, runs at 1.5Ghz and is capable of 48 Trillion floating point operations per second (48Gflops). Current plans are to integrate the chip with future Graphics Cards and set-top boxes.
