Manufacturer Veho, are advertising their portable video player as an MP5 gadget. The Quinque MP5 Portable Video Player, released last year, supports MP3, WAV, WMA, Mpeg4, RealMedia video formats, AVI and RMVB (RealMedia Variable Bitrate) tracks.
Included in the Quinque is an FM tuner and a photo viewer allowing you to show the latest photos of your young family. It has an onboard storage of 4Gb and there is a micro SD expansion slot that takes up to 2Gb.
The unit shows videos and photos at 480 x 234 pixels on a 3 inch colour screen. Audio outputs can be controlled by the 8 band graphic equaliser and presets can be selected for the radio stations and the music playback. With its external speaker you can play it for everyone to hear or plug in the earphones for a personal experience.
Another feature of this gadget, not found on many portable media players, is the support for eBooks. A great way to be able to read on the train without the need for cumbersome books.
To transfer your music, photos and videos onto the device there is a mini USB port which also charges it. This is compatible with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0.
Veho are pushing the compatibility of the Quinque with Macs, but unfortunately it doesn’t play DRM-free iTunes songs.
