A nice little gadget from Western Digital can create an on-demand system for your collection of films, music or TV programs you have downloaded. It is called the WD TV. With most portable USB drives, digital cameras, portable media players that can be seen as a mass storage device or camcorders connected to it, the stored films, music or slide show of photos can be accessed anytime you wish.
The WD TV supports up to 1080p quality with its HDMI port allowing you to connect to any home theatre or HDTV. As it comes with a composite AV cable it can be used on any standard TV as well.
The compact gadget allows you to connect 2 portable drives via the 2 USB ports and the contained Media Library feature allows you to see the contents of the drives as one list sorted into media types. The WD TV has no limit on the storage it can see so you can add larger drives as needed.
This unit comes with a remote control to allow you to navigate through the menu system and Arcsoft MediaConverter 2.5 software that runs on Windows which converts music, video and photo files into optimised formats for the WD TV.
So if you watch a lot of films or listen to a lot of music, what better way to keep them all in one place.
