Summertime is just round the corner and we are planning our holidays. A time of year when we need to be more aware of our surroundings when it comes to our gadgets. I’m talking about being around the pool or near the sea. Our devices don’t take too kindly to a dunk in cool water, unlike ourselves in the heat of the sun. But for recording those memories there is one device we need in that environment and General Imaging has released their first waterproof version.
I’m talking about the GE G3WP digital camera. It is constructed in a waterproof body that allows it to be taken to a depth of up to ten feet. Within the casing is a 12.2 image sensor with a 4 x optical zoom lens. GE has integrated an “Electronic Image Stabiliser” instead of the usual mechanical one. They say this raises the ISO sensitivity to produce quicker shutter speed and in so doing will freeze motion.
There is an auto mode, 12 scene modes and an Auto Scene Detection mode. Linked to the autoexposure and autofocus systems is the face detection feature. Also included are the Blink Detection and Smile Detection features that control the shutter depending on what it detects.
Storing all of your memories can be done on the on board 116MB storage or on an SD/SDHC card.
