Scientists make brushing teeth a game

Researchers at Taiwan University have come up with a novel way to get children to brush their teeth by trying to inject some ‘fun’ into the equation.  By using a camera and toothbrush with an array of LEDs attached to the handle they are able to accurately track the motion of the toothbrush.  The ‘game’ part is done by displaying 2 sets of teeth that, initially, are covered in funky bacteria.  As the child brushes each individual tooth they are turned pearly white, encouraging the child to brush intentively.  According to the researchers the kids were much more likely to want to brush all of their teeth effectively and make the chore that little bit more entertaining.
