Sony’s new bed-partner Sharp are to release budget LCD TVs in the UK in the not too distant future. Weighing in at 26″, 32″ and 37″ these HD-Ready televisions will cost £499 for the smallest and £599 for another 6 inches. The price for the 37 inch set is still unconfirmed.
Specification-wise the sets look to be pretty standard - 1500:1 Contrast Ratio, 450cd/m2 Brightness, 1366×768 native resolution supporting 720p and 1080i and an integrated digital freeview box.
In competition with the Sharps Aquos range is Samsung’s LE32 & LE37R88BD, although not sounding quite so sexy they are already available and have an arguably better screen quality with the 37″ TV costing under £600.
